Essence of the Chapter

English

Krishna proclaims that he is the source of everything and everything proceeds from him. Those who know this worship him with love, and to them he gives the buddhi-yoga — the wisdom by which they attain him. Arjuna then asks to hear of God's vibhūtis, divine glories. Krishna enumerates his presence in creation: he is the Self in the heart of all beings, the sun and moon, the Veda of the Vedas, the lion among beasts, the Ganges among rivers — and teaches the beautiful rule that whatever is great, glorious and powerful is a fragment of his splendor.

कृष्ण घोषणा करते हैं कि वे ही समस्त सृष्टि के स्रोत हैं और सब कुछ उन्हीं से प्रवृत्त होता है। जो यह जानते हैं, वे प्रेम से उनकी भक्ति करते हैं, और उन्हें वे बुद्धियोग देते हैं — वह बुद्धि जिससे वे उन्हें प्राप्त होते हैं। फिर अर्जुन ईश्वर की विभूतियों, दिव्य गौरवों का वर्णन सुनना चाहता है। कृष्ण सृष्टि में अपनी उपस्थिति गिनाते हैं: वे सभी के हृदय में आत्मा हैं, सूर्य और चंद्रमा, वेदों का वेद, पशुओं में सिंह, नदियों में गंगा — और सुंदर नियम सिखाते हैं कि जो-जो महान, गौरवशाली और शक्तिशाली है, वह उनके तेज का अंश है।

ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate |
iti matvā bhajante māṁ budhā bhāva-samanvitāḥ || 10.8 ||
ENI am the source of all; everything proceeds from me. Understanding this, the wise worship me with love and devotion.
हिंमैं समस्त सृष्टि का स्रोत हूँ; मुझसे ही सब कुछ प्रवृत्त होता है। ऐसा जानकर भावयुक्त बुद्धिमान मेरी भक्ति करते हैं।
ગુજહું સમસ્ત સૃષ્ટિનો સ્રોત છું; મારાથી જ બધું પ્રવર્તે છે. આમ જાણીને ભાવયુક્ત બુદ્ધિમાન મારી ભક્તિ કરે છે.
तेषां सततयुक्तानां भजतां प्रीतिपूर्वकम् ।
ददामि बुद्धियोगं तं येन मामुपयान्ति ते ॥ १०.१० ॥
teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam |
dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te || 10.10 ||
ENTo those ever devoted, worshipping me with love, I give the yoga of understanding by which they come to me.
हिंजो सदा युक्त रहकर प्रेमपूर्वक मेरा भजन करते हैं, उन्हें मैं वह बुद्धियोग देता हूँ जिससे वे मुझे प्राप्त होते हैं।
ગુજજે સદા યુક્ત રહીને પ્રેમપૂર્વક મારું ભજન કરે છે, તેમને હું તે બુદ્ધિયોગ આપું છું જેથી તેઓ મને પામે છે.
अहमात्मा गुडाकेश सर्वभूताशयस्थितः ।
अहमादिश्च मध्यं च भूतानामन्त एव च ॥ १०.२० ॥
aham ātmā guḍākeśa sarva-bhūtāśaya-sthitaḥ |
aham ādiś ca madhyaṁ ca bhūtānām anta eva ca || 10.20 ||
ENI am the Self dwelling in the heart of all beings, O Gudakesha; I am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all beings.
हिंहे गुडाकेश! मैं समस्त प्राणियों के हृदय में स्थित आत्मा हूँ; मैं ही भूतों का आदि, मध्य और अंत हूँ।
ગુજહે ગુડાકેશ! હું સર્વ પ્રાણીઓના હૃદયમાં સ્થિત આત્મા છું; હું જ ભૂતોનો આદિ, મધ્ય અને અંત છું.
यद्यद्विभूतिमत्सत्त्वं श्रीमदूर्जितमेव वा ।
तत्तदेवावगच्छ त्वं मम तेजोंऽशसम्भवम् ॥ १०.४१ ॥
yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ śrīmad ūrjitam eva vā |
tat tad evāvagaccha tvaṁ mama tejo-'ṁśa-sambhavam || 10.41 ||
ENWhatever being is glorious, splendid, and powerful — know that it arises from a fragment of my splendor.
हिंजो-जो विभूतियुक्त, श्रीमान और तेजस्वी सत्ता है — उसे तू मेरे तेज के अंश से उत्पन्न समझ।
ગુજજે-જે વિભૂતિયુક્ત, શ્રીમંત અને તેજસ્વી સત્તા છે — તેને તું મારા તેજના અંશથી ઉત્પન્ન સમજ.
