Krishna draws the ethical map of the Gita by describing the two natures in humanity: the divine nature (daivÄ« sampad) — fearlessness, purity, charity, non-violence, truthfulness, compassion, forgiveness — and the demoniac nature (ÄsurÄ« sampad) — hypocrisy, arrogance, cruelty, greed, anger and delusion. The divine nature leads to liberation; the demoniac to bondage. He then names lust, anger and greed as the three gates to hell that must be renounced. Finally he teaches that scripture — the standard of right and wrong — must guide action, not one's own unregulated desire.
