Jñāna Vijñāna Yoga — Knowledge and Realization

Essence of the Chapter

English

Krishna now reveals the knowledge of his own supreme nature. All of creation rests on two powers: the lower nature (the eight elements — earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect and ego) and the higher nature (the jīva, the living soul by which the whole world is sustained). Everything in the universe hangs on him as pearls on a thread. Yet the world is veiled by māyā — the play of the three gunas — which is hard to cross; but those who surrender to God alone cross it. The chapter ends with the four types of devotees and the four types who do not seek him, and declares the wise devotee of Vasudeva as the rarest and most beloved.
